WHAT IS TACHYON?

Tachyon Dance Challenge is a brand new
Community Youth Dance Event!

Tachyon focuses on community events and the development of all dancers. At each event we will have a panel of 2 "Performance Mentors" with vast knowledge of the performance industry, and how dancers can achieve excellence!

Participate in our first event this May 5th, 2026 in Ottawa!

Step into the spotlight!

Every performer receives a participation ribbon and a select number of routines will be honored with special themed awards best suited towards their vast efforts. One routine will shine in our SPOTLIGHT feature, receiving extra recognition for its energy and artistry on the stage!

This event is all about fun, connection and celebrating dance together as a community. Designed with high school dancers in mind (ages 13 - 18), it provides a valuable opportunity for growth, stage experience and expression in an encouraging community driven environment!

Tachyon is an inclusive event created for all dancers to feel seen and celebrated. This experience focuses on youth encouragement, performance and community. Performance spots are limited. Be sure to move at the speed of light and register today.

Rules & Regulations

DANCE CATEGORIES
All Styles are welcome!

TIME LIMIT
Routines must be between 2 minutes and 5 minutes.
FEEDBACK
To help dancers improve, feedback will be given out directly after each performance. The "Performance Mentors" will also complete an evaluation sheet following the below structure.
Energy & Stage Presence - evaluated out of 30
Choreography & Execution - evaluated out of 50
Style & Technique - evaluated out of 20
CHOREOGRAPHY
Routines can be choreographed by teachers, guest choreographers or students.
AGE DIVISIONS
High School Grade 9 to 12 (required)
Ages 13 to 17 or 18
MUSIC
All music must be submitted no later than 2 weeks before the competition. This is to guarantee music is properly formatted onto to our system & ready for the competition.
Please make sure that all music is properly edited. While we respect each recording artist and their creative process, we ask that you keep the viewing audience in consideration.
PROPS
Props are allowed in all routines. They must be set up by dancers or teachers of the same studio. We are not responsible for helping with the set up of props.
Props must be in consideration of society, laws & non violent.
PERFORMACE MENTORS
The MENTORS are filled with a combined vast knowledge and experience in the performing arts. We strive at making sure that the mentors are able to help all performers reach a new level in their career.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
We will have a photographer/ videographer on site at each event. All participants that attend our events (in person or online, including submitted video content) agree to their photo/ video being taken & used on all Chemistry Dance Competition (and their partner companies) social media platforms & for promotional use.
GENERAL
- No smoking is permitted within the dance space/ area of the performers
- Please refrain from strong smelling scents/ perfumes which can cause allergic reactions to others- Your consideration towards those with peanut allergies is greatly appreciated- Flash photography is not allowed- The filming and photography of other routines and studios is not permitted- A respectful behavior is encouraged between all students, studios, teachers/ directors/ studio owners, families and friends while attending any and all events hosted by Chemistry Dance Competition and their "doing business as" (DBA) titles.- Please be advised that Chemistry Dance Competition, their DBAs, and their partnership companies are not responsible for injuries of any kind that may occur during the event. As well, WE & the hosting venue of our event is not responsible for any lost, misplaced or stolen items. We ask that you please leave valuable items at home or in a trusted area of your choice.HEALTH & SAFETY
This is a priority to us. At each venue we work with, we will make sure that they have proper sanitation areas and clean washrooms ready for use at the beginning of day. All venues should have security/ cameras onsite for everyone's protection.
